Third Grade Again - 09.02.09

A smile, a wave, a shiver down my spine,
Heart skipping, each missed beat is a sign.
I've been crushing on him for awhile,
How long has it been?
Feeling so much like I'm in third grade once again.
Not thinking of boyfriend, only of friends,
Thinking of a sweet silliness that never ends.
He hugs me kindly and my head's spinning round,
Running into walls, the world's not making a sound.
Blood rushes to my face, blushing at his glance,
Wondering if maybe I'll go with him to that dance.
It's cute and silly, yet who doesn't need now and then,
A chance to feel like you're in third grade once again.

Tragedy - 08.26.09

A lonely bear came across some bees,
Thinking he was in heaven.
Asked for a taste of their honey,
Happily they gave him a comb of seven.
Loving how the honey tasted,
He came back to ask for more.
Sweetly the kind bees obliged,
They gave to him another four.
Time went on between the two,
Transactions happening again and again,
The once happy bees began to tire,
Wishing to go back to before the bear had been.
They began to sting his paws,
Thinking to drive him away,
But the bear loved the honey too much,
So he stayed day after day.
Exhausted and determined were the bees,
Leaving the forest with their honey's magic.
Though the bees found peace again,
For the bear it was more tragic.

Who Are You? - 08.19.09

I write this poem, I write it brand new,
I'm writing this poem all for you.
Sixteen and confused, full of wonder am I,
Wishing to know who you are, I heave a great sigh.
Will you have blue eyes or brown?
Red, blond, or brunette atop your crown?
Speaking with a whisper as calm as the nights sky,
Or are you rather a loud and spontaneous guy?
I will love you forever, will you love me too?
Be loyal, kind, sweet, and true?
When I'm sad and upset, will you hold me when I cry?
Will you take care of our family, help us get by?
Do I already know you and all that you do?
I have just one more question... who are you?

Without a Him - 07.27.09

Never knew I could survive without a him.
Its been so complicated and so dim,
A constant flow clouding my mind,
My emotions on edge ready to grind.
Finally the chain broke, thought I would fall,
Try to get up and hit a brick wall.
But a new dawn awoke bringing new light,
A chance to heal and to do what is right.
Don't need a him, not any time soon,
Rather hang with the guys, stare at the moon.
No more confusion or time in the dim.
Never knew I could survive without a him.

The Clock - 07.24.09

I sit there and watch the grandfather clock tick for awhile.
Now and again I hear its soft chime and it makes me smile.
The hands go round, time moving me forward and on,
A month has passed by and it's the break of dawn.
The pendulum swings; it never misses a beat,
I wish it could tick on forever, it would be so sweet.
But sadly the weights on the gears come to a halt.
Terrified I stand up, listen to its silence, and think it's my fault.
I have a choice now to make, missing the pendulum's swing,
Two possible options, as I sit missing its ring.
I could find a new clock just right around the bend,
Or I could work my hardest to wind this one up, and set it ticking again.

"Oh What is it Like?" - 05.25.09

She looked up at me as we took a break from our hike,
She asked me sweetly, "oh, what is it like?"
I contemplated that question as the river turned the bend,
Oh what is it like to be in love with my best friend?
With a simple truth I decided to begin,
"It's like playing a game that is almost impossible to win.
On the board, none of the peices seem to fit,
But you keep playing all the same never wanting to quit.
It's like jumping head first into a pool neither warm nor cold,
It's scary at first, but you never regret it, and it never gets old.
It's like hugging your teddy bear when you're alone or scared,
It will always bring you comfort even if the bear is teared.
It's like writing in your journal when you have a secret to tell,
It keeps them safe and listens to your hopes for the wishing well."
She looked up at me her eyes full of wonder and wide.
"It sounds like an adventure with so much promise inside."
So as we both watched that river turn round that bend,
I found there's nothing greater than being in love with my best friend.

I Love You - 05.24.09

Why am I sitting here here crying again?
Over this heartbreak I have already been.
Love and pain together are brothers,
You can't get one without the other.

When I'm with you I feel love, protected,
Your words once gone leaving me broken, rejected

What I need, what I want, so confused
My heart lying there broken and abused.
My love welling up inside, my heart breaks in two
I don't want a parent, a brother, I want You.

I can tell always that you love and you care,
That you don't see that for you my heart tears
You hold my hand and come close, it feels so real,
Hurting so much more that for you, it's no big deal

When all was dark, and I was left in the dew,
I discovered something then, I love you.

"Love Me" - 05.20.09

A little girl only in the third grade,
Sittin next to that boy she had it made.
Hopin that maybe he's the one to be,
Beggin him in her heart, "Love Me"
It's sixth grade now and junior high,
It's hard to talk to him but she will try.
Hopin that maybe he's the one to be,
Beggin him in her heart, "Love Me"
High school comin, it's freshman year,
First broken heart, a fallin tear.
Hoped that he was the one to be,
Beggin him now please don't, "Love Me"
Another year older, just a sophomore,
She was lovin him to her core.
Hopin that maybe he's the one to be,
Beggin him in her heart, "Love Me"
Junior and senior years passin by fast,
Goin on dates with him havin a blast.
Hopin that maybe he's the one to be,
Beggin him in her heart, "Love Me"
In college at last, finding who she will be,
He's taken her heart, she gave the key.
Hopin that maybe he's the one to be,
Beggin him in her heart, "Love Me"
Found him now, she's happy as ever,
Promising him always and forever.
Knowing that he is the one to be,
Beggin her with his heart, "Love Me"

Ballad of the Girl - 05.18.09

She came to this foreign land confused and completely friendless,
Happy faces all around her and opportunities endless.
A friend here, a friend there, things began to get better,
The outgoing, the lowly, and the exciting go-getters.
Over time a group was formed, four guys and her,
Each had their own personality and good friends they all were.
From the beginning two liked her as she began to like one,
Wasn't long 'til "they" became "we" their happiness never to be undone.
But then one fateful day a horrible injury the boy struck,
Through the struggle and the pain, they found their love was out of luck.
Enjoying each other at all times, happy they had been together,
Finding that though this true, they couldn't last all weather.
The second boy came forward then sweeping up her broken heart,
He sang her songs of how he loved her even from the very start.
She loved the second boy different from how she'd loved the first,
She felt they could make it through anything, even the very worst.
The girl saw many things, changing about them as time went on,
She found she must part with him as things were very wrong.
So the girl found herself, heartbroken and alone again,
As the first boy took his place beside her, to be a good friend.
Confused emotion filled the girl as she began to like him once more,
For awhile she had hated him, but now the first boy she does adore.
How she will bear it all, she hopes to find a way,
And so the dramatic life of a foreign girl continues on today.

No Matter - 04.10.09

No matter the distance, no matter the pain,
No matter how difficult, or all the rain.
They will throw hard, all they can will be thrown,
Trials and tribulations will come, this much is known.
We will stumble, but we will never fall,
Hard as it will be, we'll make it through it all.
No matter the distance, no matter the pain,
No matter how difficult, or all the rain.
I will still love you, and you will love me,
Never two units, always a we.
Our hearts are united, harmonized in song,
No matter what, out love will hold strong.

Loving - 03.09.09

See him at school he's smiling at you
Doesn't take long 'fore your smiling too
He makes you laugh just because it's fun
Looks at you, feel your heart's missed beat one
You hold his hand to see how it feels
He comes closer see how your mind reels
Can't quite think strait, stumbling over words
Hear his voice, your heart sings like the birds
Sings love songs and poetry he writes
Wonderful, like the chivalrous knights
He says 'I love you' and he means it
In everything he does you see it
To see his heart into his eyes look
Next thing you know, your own heart is took
