I'm Grateful... - 11.30.08

I’m grateful for the morning light brightening each morning,
I’m grateful for the happy rays that pull me out of mourning.
I’m grateful for the clouds up high promising the coming snow,
I’m grateful for it’s soft beauty as it falls way down below.
I’m grateful for the grass beneath me softening my fall,
I’m grateful for the little things that don’t make me feel so small.
I’m grateful for the wonders of life bringing change and new beginnings,
I’m grateful for the peace and warmth that come along with new endings.
I’m grateful for mother’s arms holding me when I am sad,
I’m grateful for father’s embrace protecting me from all that is bad.
I’m grateful for my many blessings written by the Patriarch’s pen,
I’m grateful for the promise of tomorrows all about the "if" and "then".
I’m grateful for forgiveness promised to those who don’t always succeed,
I’m grateful for a broken heart and contrite spirit always healing the need.
I’m grateful for what is to come next of only pure joy and love,
I’m grateful for the warm embrace awaiting me above.

Sonnet 1 - 11.17.08

The flames burning inferno of fear,
The people's horror, an evil king crowned.
Small boy caught cries out, no one hears a sound
Fate killing nature, a silent felled tear,
The branding of a horse, how it does sear.
A hunting wolf, for life the deer doth bound,
Trees crumble; their branches fall to the ground.
An unquenchable pow'r striking hearts dear.
The clouds rolling, sign of coming rain,
A dying plant if nourished, grows again
Unfrozen river happily doth run
Waiting hospital patient declared sane,
Where happily ever after began,
Shining beacon of hope, the rising sun.

Lirons of Liloram - 10.09.08

“How shall we begin?” The god asked himself and then he chuckled, for it was a rather funny statement. This was because he had in a sense, just finished. The God of Elements, Oram, had just spent the last 50,000 years piecing together a small rock like a jigsaw puzzle to be his very own world and home. The work was exhausting but Oram was a persevering god and would not be discouraged.

“I think I will begin with what I understand the best, elements of fire, wind, water and earth. I will start with a city of fire.” And he did. He started with a rocky and rugged terrain, then added dust and mist to the skies with a smoldering dry heat clinging to the air. Out of the ground grew tall mountains full of liquid lava that sometimes shot up in the air as geysers. One of these volcanic mountains was particularly larger than the others. Oram took this hollowed hill and removed all of the molten lava from it. Then he began to carve out passage ways and chambers within the mountain, humming to himself as he did so. The city took many, many years of hard work to build, but the end result was pleasing to Oram “This shall be their city, and it will be called Amoryp. I will now start on my city of water, just to the east of Amoryp.”
