My Place - 09.14.09

Silently watching, contemplating, understanding,
My place.
Laughing loudly, talking, smiling,
Their space.
Different kinds of people filling the land,
Some take their seats while some take a stand.
I listen, I worry, the world on my shoulders,
A heavy tongue and deep mind carrying these boulders.
They are social, excited, talking as fast as their minds,
This role is not mine, I don't enjoy being this kind.
Silently watching, contemplating, understanding,
My place.
Laughing loudly, talking smiling,
Their space.
This is my place, a calm, interested spectator.

~

Happily grinning, giggling, willing,
My place.
Tickling quickly, chasing, sharing,
Their place.
Similar people all over the land,
Groups of the exciting and groups of the bland.
I smile, I enjoy, "the world is my stage",
Excited to be around happiness, shrinking from rage.
They are open, happy, enjoying their lives in whole,
This role is what I seek, to escape a life so dull.
Happily grinning, giggling, willing,
My place,
Tickling quickly, chasing, sharing,
Their place.
This is my place, an endearing, thrilled, friend.

~

So who am I? This or that? Which is my place?
Complicated but true, both are the race,
This is my place.

Family - 08.10.09

Family; so complicated, confusing and rare,
Eight siblings, each with their own worry and care.
We grew up together, and we grew up apart,
This being so we each had a different start.
Christine; sweet and caring, always the motherly sister,
Gentle, artistic, and a great listener.
I was too little to really know who she was,
Older now I love who she is and all that she does.
Julie; a favorite to many, so amazing and fun,
Complicated yet wonderful 'til the day is but done.
I enjoyed her company then and I enjoy it now,
Never harsh words between us, never a row.
Richard; my gentle brother, a soft flowing river,
A writer, a drawer, and a great advice giver.
Young and silly I played with his monsters now and then,
Past the annoyances I caused we are friends once again.
Eric; a young boy at heart, a Disneyland lover,
Fun, talented, and a great brother.
He used to let me play his games, and to the movies we went,
With him life was fun and light 'til the day was spent.
Emily; energetic, spontaneous, always moving,
Loving life and friends, her music grooving.
Life is never boring when Emily is there,
I love her dearly and will forever care.
Anna; my musical sister, talented and strong,
Beautiful, intense, she's hardly ever wrong.
Not the closest of sisters though we were,
I've always aspired to be as successful as her.
Janet; a natural born leader, righteous and steadfast,
Forgiving, caring, and headed for great things fast.
We never got along and we fought often back then,
But times have changed and now she's a closest friend.
Youngest of eight, I don't really know yet who I am,
A little of all seven, I'm learning from them.
I hope to learn soon where amongst them I stand,
To play my part well in this large family band.

Without a Him - 07.27.09

Never knew I could survive without a him.
Its been so complicated and so dim,
A constant flow clouding my mind,
My emotions on edge ready to grind.
Finally the chain broke, thought I would fall,
Try to get up and hit a brick wall.
But a new dawn awoke bringing new light,
A chance to heal and to do what is right.
Don't need a him, not any time soon,
Rather hang with the guys, stare at the moon.
No more confusion or time in the dim.
Never knew I could survive without a him.

Better Than Royalty - 06.14.09

A young girl only eighteen,
With a stunning beauty fit for a queen.
She is to marry soon,
A dark shadow sets over the room.
It's a betrothal here and now,
agreeing or not she'll be forced to bow.
Led down the aisle by the king,
A groom there with a ring.
A single tear falls down her cheek.
A strong heart made feeble and meek.
Her hand he took and then she knew,
Her final words would be "i do."
But then and there the rooster cooed,
And woke the girl her fears soothed.
At last she felt it in her heart,
Just a farm girl she played her part.
All her life a princess she dreamed to be,
Finally now her eyes could see,
Always happier would be her life,
Not of royalty and all its strife.
A young girl only eighteen,
With a strong heart and mind keen.

She. Her. Me. - 05.13.09

Keeping an eye out for her friends, doing her best,
Impossible to hate, and easily impressed.
Moving forward even when she's knocked down,
Being who she is with blue eyes instead of brown.
Everyday a new day to try a little harder,
Realizing her dreams and getting smarter.
Loyal to her faith, family, and friends,
Years of improving, seeing a world without ends.
Helping others, wherever and whenever she can,
Using the help of others to get back up and stand.
Running a race with only herself to conquer.
She strives to accomplish her goals and to be better,
Trying to make a difference in this world of trend-setters.

Found Poem - 05.12.09

Some say the world will end in fire,
I knew that essentially nothing had changed.
She was a stranger in this world, just like him.
He would not cry in front of them again.
But until then, you never saw me.
I concentrated on being invisible...
It was a heroic shot.
The forest vibrated with the ripeness of its colors,
It was a long, quiet walk.
The night was not dark enough...

Hope - 05.11.09

Pouring rain,
Burning pain.
Feels like your heart has died,
Can't fix it no matter if you tried.
Every time back up you get,
Just to find you've lost the bet.
Once again hit and maimed,
By that pouring rain,
Burning pain.
No room left to grow,
But little did you know,
Soon will be gone that pouring rain,
Burning pain.
Times will be hard for a few longer,
But all of this will make you stronger.
You'll come out on top,
No longer held down by the chain,
Pouring rain,
Burning pain.
Life will be better soon enough,
Just hold on tight, it will be tough.
The burning fire quenched by the rain,
No more hurt and no more pain.

Defying The Storms - 03.25.09

A little green forest begins to grow.
It isn't long before it begins to know,
the batter of storms and the fears of the snow.
Growing is difficult with so much to bare.
Feeling each of its branches begin to tear.
Losing all hope and falling into despair.
The once happy forest becomes depressed and sad,
as even the thought of a storm makes it mad.
Its anger is strong but doesn't know that its bad.
Denser the forest grows in each coming spring,
seeking protection from that evil storm being.
Sends the birds away, no longer singing.
Fortifying its trunks, pushing everything out,
no animals can live where it is dense and stout.
But finally it sees it is lonely without.
The storms battering on, seems impossible to rid,
all of the protection it built up and it did.
It could no longer react to or do as the storm bid.
As time passes, and as the forest lives on,
it is no longer dense and is now filled with song.
The storms still continue, never quite gone.
The anger is gone, and the forest still strong,
seeing and knowing that the anger was wrong.
The animals returned, the forest happily among.
Though the will may falter as the storms come,
stay strong but remember to never succumb,
to anger, another negative step on the ladder rung.

I'm Grateful... - 11.30.08

I’m grateful for the morning light brightening each morning,
I’m grateful for the happy rays that pull me out of mourning.
I’m grateful for the clouds up high promising the coming snow,
I’m grateful for it’s soft beauty as it falls way down below.
I’m grateful for the grass beneath me softening my fall,
I’m grateful for the little things that don’t make me feel so small.
I’m grateful for the wonders of life bringing change and new beginnings,
I’m grateful for the peace and warmth that come along with new endings.
I’m grateful for mother’s arms holding me when I am sad,
I’m grateful for father’s embrace protecting me from all that is bad.
I’m grateful for my many blessings written by the Patriarch’s pen,
I’m grateful for the promise of tomorrows all about the "if" and "then".
I’m grateful for forgiveness promised to those who don’t always succeed,
I’m grateful for a broken heart and contrite spirit always healing the need.
I’m grateful for what is to come next of only pure joy and love,
I’m grateful for the warm embrace awaiting me above.
